Stud Finder works entirely on your device. There is no account, no sign-up and no server of ours. Magnetometer readings, calibration baselines, wall marks, measurements and your settings are processed and stored locally on your phone only — they are never uploaded, synced or shared, and we cannot see them.
The app reads your device’s magnetometer (and motion sensors for the bubble level) in real time while the corresponding screen is open. The readings are used to draw the gauge and detect metal fasteners, then discarded. Sensor data never leaves your device.
The free version shows a single banner ad on the Scan tab, served by Google AdMob, a third-party ad network. AdMob may collect device identifiers and ad-interaction data to serve and measure ads, as described in Google’s privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy).
On iOS the app asks for App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission once. If you decline — or if you simply ignore the prompt — the app requests non-personalized ads instead, and everything keeps working exactly the same.
Buying the one-time Pro unlock removes all advertising, after which no ad SDK is initialized and no ATT prompt is shown.
The Pro unlock is a one-time in-app purchase processed entirely by Apple’s App Store (or Google Play). We never see or store your payment details.
The app is a general-audience utility and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
